Harakeke Farm is a family owned, 3 hectare vineyard and winery in Upper Moutere, Nelson.
Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Pinot Rose produced from a small family owned vineyard located in the Harakeke district of Upper Moutere, Nelson, New Zealand.
Andrew Sutherland & Joanne Costar make tiny quantities of wine from their 3 hectare vineyard - a truly family owned boutique vineyard.
Harakeke is the Maori name for NZ Flax or Phormium Tenax. We have chosen this name, not only because it is the district where the vineyard is, but also because we will gradually replant the low lying areas of our farm with Harakeke along with other natives.
The art on the label was created by kiwi artist Brian Poole

Along with making Harakeke Farm wines Joanne and Andrew run a small gourmet preserve company called Moutere Gold.
We also have the good fortune to own the historic Old Post Office building in Upper Moutere village. We couldn't think of any better use for the building than to showcase our wines, jams and chutneys and an ever expanding range of locally grown and made products including; Neudorf Sheep's milk cheeses, a range of small producer Olive Oils, Hazelnut oils, walnuts, apples, free range eggs....you get the idea.
We are now increasingly stocking art work and serious craft works from talented local people.
